Dylan Fischer, PhD, Forest Ecosystem Ecology, Community Ecology, and Tree Physiology
“My research in ecosystem ecology addresses linkages between plant diversity and ecosystem function, and community responses to disturbance. I focus on forest ecology, big disturbances, soil carbon, nutrient cycling, root dynamics, tree physiology, and forest carbon cycling. When I’m not doing research or teaching, you’ll find me on the trail, mountain biking, road biking, sea kayaking and canoeing in the south sound, playing on rivers, or hanging out with my wife, daughter, and our two dogs Gladys and Bohdi. You can find out more about my research and teaching here.”
Lalita Calabria, PhD, Bryology and Lichenology in Forests
“I am faculty member and botanist at The Evergreen State College where I teach a variety of interdisciplinary team and solo taught programs focusing on vascular plants, lichens, bryophytes, fungi, field ecology, taxonomy, herbarium studies and plant chemistry. In addition to my role as a faculty member, I am also the Collections Manager at the Evergreen Natural History Museum, where I am actively involved in mentoring students and conducting herbarium-based research. My research interests include biodiversity and conservation studies of bryophytes and lichens, and phytochemistry.
