Evergreen vs. Warner Pacific: October 30, 2010
Saturday evening’s match versus Warner Pacific was the final home match for senior Caitlin Swift (Seattle, WA) and the Geoducks responded with a four-set victory (21-25, 25-13, 26-24, 25-19), igniting a very spirited Evergreen crowd. Defense was the key as Evergreen State held the Knights’ offense to a .055 hitting efficiency for the match. Chantal Petkus (Junior/Richland, WA) proved once again why she is one of the best liberos in the conference as she posted a match-high 50 digs. The Geoducks led the Knights in that category 102-90. Erin Caldwell (Junior/Snoqualmie, WA) was impressive at the net again for the second night in a row, posting seven blocks. Offensively, setter Erin Mitchell (Freshman/Santa Cruz, CA) led the team with a career high 44 assists, distributing a very balanced Geoduck attack. Jazzmin Garcia (Sophomore/Kirkland, WA) hammered 17 kills, while Swift contributed 12 on the evening, including the match winner. The Geoducks (4-12, 5-15) now look ahead to their final competition dates against the southern Oregon schools next weekend.
