OLYMPIA, Wash. – With just six players suited up for Evergreen, the Warner Pacific Knights wore down the host Geoducks to pick up a 3-0 straight set win in a Cascade Conference volleyball match on Friday night at CRC Gymnasium in Olympia, Wash.

Following an Evergreen (0-9, 0-8 CCC) attack error to lead off the match, the Knights (2-7, 1-7 CCC) did not trail for the remainder of the first set but it wasn’t easy.  Evergreen was able to get within three points midway through the frame but the Knights used 14 kills to take the 25-19 win as they took the lead.

The second set was nearly all Warner Pacific as they found themselves up by double-digits and the deficit was too much for the Geoducks to overcome as the Knights used their top game to pull ahead two games to zero with a 25-11 win.  Warner Pacific hit .312 on the frame, putting down 15 kills and committing just five errors on 32 attacks.

In the third set, Evergreen took an early lead while both teams remained in single digits but the Knights went on a six-point run to pull ahead and they wouldn’t trail the remainder of the match.  The Geoducks tried to dig deep and get back into the game but a four-point swing went Warner Pacific’s way as the Knights clinched the match with a 25-15 win.

Evergreen was led by seven kills each from Stephanie Peshlakai-John (Kirtland, N.M./West Texas College) and Sonja Arrasi (Sandy, Utah/Westminster College).  Erin Mitchell (Santa Cruz, Calif./Mt. Madonna School) put up 11 assists while Arrasi led the team with 20 digs on the night.

Warner Pacific was led by 10 kills from Brie Schau.  Kelsey Kurtz put up 28 assists for the victorious Knights while Jaclyn Chew-Dorsey led all players with 23 digs on the night.  As a team, Warner Pacific hit .191 on the night, putting down 37 kills with 16 errors on 110 total attacks.
