Sean Williams teaches ethnomusicology, Irish Studies, and Asian Studies at The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington, where she has taught since 1991. Her teaching responsibilities for the 2015-2016 academic year include “Knowing the World in Thought, Sound, and Vision” (with Joe Tougas and Pauline Yu), and “Irish Drama” (with Walter Grodzik). Her book projects include The Performance of Liminality: Sacred, Alluring, and Dangerous (a monograph); World Music (a textbook aimed at lower-division college students); When Musicians Speak: Interviews in Ethnomusicology (an edited volume with Julia Byl); and Blood Harmony (a murder mystery). She also has a Facebook alter ego named Captain Grammar Pants.
