OLYMPIA, Wash. – After playing arguably their best game of the season on Friday night, the Evergreen Geoducks couldn’t make it three in a row at home, falling to the Southern Oregon Raiders, 75-58, in a Cascade Collegiate Conference women’s basketball game on Saturday at CRC Gymnasium in Olympia, Wash.

The Geoducks (5-16, 3-11 CCC) struggled to find their shot early as the Raiders (14-13, 7-8 CCC) built the early lead. While the Raiders solid shooting to start the game eventually cooled off, Evergreen struggled to heat up as SOU continued to hold the Geoducks at bay. After being down by double-digits, the Geoducks finally found their stroke midway through the period as a three-pointer by Latrina Woods (Skyway, Wash./La Sierra Univ.) got Evergreen back within three points at 16-13.

It was SOU that would get hot at the end, building the lead back up into double-digits to take the 38-28 lead into the halftime break. Evergreen was led by 11 points from Woods while Carly Wood led the first-half effort for SOU with eight points.

Unfortunately for Evergreen, the second half started off much like the first as the Raiders continued to build the lead. The SOU lead hit 20 with 10:40 left to play as Kiara Moore hit the first of two free throws to give the Raiders the 56-36 advantage. Evergreen finally got some shots to fall in the waning minutes but it was too little too late as Southern Oregon picked up the 75-58 win.

Evergreen was led by 22 points from Vanessa Caskey (Tacoma, Wash./Pierce CC), who also added nine rebounds for the Geoducks. Woods finished with 16 on the night as Evergreen shot just 33.87% from the field.

Southern Oregon was paced by 11 points from Whitney Scott in a balanced attack. Wood added 10, as did Alexi Smith. The Raider bench came to play on Saturday night, posting 36 points from non-starters.

The Geoducks hit the road for the final time next weekend as they head down to the Rose City for contests with Warner Pacific (Friday) and Concordia (Saturday). Tip-off for both games is set for 5:30 p.m. in Portland, Ore.
