FOREST GROVE, Ore. – With just three seconds left to play in regulation, Emily Tuffey put the game-winner in the back of the net as the Pacific Boxers pulled out a 2-1 win over the Evergreen Geoducks in a non-conference women’s soccer match on Thursday evening at Lincoln Park Stadium in Forest Grove, Ore.

In the first half, it was the Geoducks (0-2) who unleashed the first shot on goal as Anastasia Daniels (Olympia, Wash./South Puget Sound CC) forced Brittany Hartman to make a save for the Boxers (1-0) in the 22nd minute.

The Geoducks continued to pressure Hartman in net, forcing her to make two more saves in the half.  It wasn’t until the 40th minutes that the Boxers put a ball on net but Lauren Davidson (Seattle, Wash./North Seattle CC) was there to make the save on the header by Bryanna DeLima.

Pacific finally broke the scoreless tie in the 55th minute when Kailee Green chipped in a ball over the head of Davidson following a cross from Shekema McCarthy.   Evergreen tied things up in the 72nd minute as junior Teresa Lopez (Yakima, Wash./Yakima Valley CC) scored her first Geoduck goal to tie the game at one score apiece.

The game-winning goal came in the 90th minute as Jordan Bodily fed in a cross to Tuffey, who fired in a shot from about 10 feet out past the mitts of Davidson as the Boxers earned the victory in their season-opener.

Pacific outshot the Geoducks, 14-7, on the match, putting seven of those shots on target as Davidson made five saves for the Geoducks.  The Boxers kept the pressure on Evergreen all match, taking seven corners on the evening, compared with just one for the Geoducks.

The Geoducks conclude their three-match road swing on Friday night when they stop by Lewis & Clark to take on the Pioneers at Griswold Stadium in Portland, Ore.
