MARION, Ind. – Sophomore Aaron Jones (San Bruno, Calif./Capuchino HS) had to wake up bright and early on Saturday morning but it was worth the effort as he took 32nd in the marathon at the 2013 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championship on Saturday morning in Marion, Ind.
Jones covered the 26.2 mile race in 2:44:52.20, finishing in the middle of a large pack of runners. The race was won by senior Nathan Martin of Spring Arbor, who set a new NAIA championship record of 2:19.18.70 to break the record that was previously held by James Cairns of University of Puget Sound.
While Aaron Jones season is now concluded following the trip to the NAIA Chmpionships, the Geoducks have one more meet as Les Jones (Tacoma, Wash./Mt. Tahoma HS) and Wes Jones (Tacoma, Wash./Mt. Tahoma HS) will run in the USA Milers’ Club Open Meet on Wednesday in Portland, Ore.
