Alaska Department of Natural Resources: Division of Forestry

As Stated: To work with kids up till grade 12 and “helping to focus awareness and knowledge of all aspects of the environment, and our place within it” (Division of Forestry).

The Division of Forestry protects forest land and uses it as a sustainable source for timber. It also tries to encourage instate resources (such as timber).

Northwest Environmental Advocates

Mission statement:  To work through advocacy and education to protect and restore water and air quality, wetlands and wildlife habitat.

Palouse-Clearwater Environmental Institute

The non-profit organization Palouse-Clearwater Environmental Institute’s mission statement is
“to increase citizen involvement in decisions that affect the region’s environment.” The Institute has grown into one of the most successful organizations in the region. In addition to Community Agriculture, they have programs in Watershed Restoration, Environmental Education, and Transportation.”  These programs include watershed restoration in northern Idaho and parts of Eastern Washington, promoting alternative energy through tours and host bicycle and vanpool options.  PCEI began in 1986 and they have received many awards due to their honest and hardworking operations.

Whidbey Environmental Action Network

Mission: The restoration and preservation of the native biological diversity of Whidbey Island and the Pacific Northwest. We accomplish this through Education, Activation, Preservation & Restoration and Litigation.

•Education – we post articles and reports on relevant subjects, such as what lands have been bought for preservation, what the county commissioners are doing about growth management, what a functional native plant community looks like, etc.
