Triggering Passages:

Industrial agriculture is rooted in patriarchal scientific paradigm that privileges violence, fragmentation, and mechanistic thought. Rooted in ideologies of war, this paradigm promotes Monocultures of the Mind and monocultures in our land, denying the knowledge of agroecology and of diversity, which is women’s knowledge. (Shiva 113)

Gastronomy is a science that analyzes happiness. Through food, which is a universal and immediate language, a component of identity and object of exchange, it reveals itself as one of the most powerful forms of peace diplomacy. (Petrini 56)

And when you’re a star, they let you do it, Trump says “Grab them by the pussy,” Trump says, “You can do anything.” (Mother Jones, Kevin Drum, Oct 7 2016)

These passages speak to me about the need for the return of the divine feminine. Today’s political climates is full of polarizations, anger, and distrust in the corporations that are in control of our land, food, seed, and ultimately our livelihood. There are calls for revolt.

This revolution is different, however. With the rise of the divine feminine and a return to loving stewardship of the land, the already happening revolution is homegrown. The power here in which to change lays in the rocket’s red glare, nor any bombs to burst in the air. This revolution is more demure, feminine, natural, and gentle. This revolution involves a return to the garden, in a sense, and a remembrance of the old ways.

There are some already-and more to come-who through co-nurturing with the earth and quietly behind the scenes care creating a new reality where food is created, harvested, and shred locally.

Many in this program are already largely a part of the new food sovereignty movement and students at Evergreen have the skills, knowledge, resources, and connections to lead in action.

Each and every time we plant an heirloom seed, wild-harvest a meal, and shop at a farmer’s market, we are creating with our actions. Many in this room will never be mothers-most of us are already giving birth right now in the creation of a new society with new values and a new hope for the future.

We are co-creating and inspiring others in our creation. We will be those on the front lines saying, “NO! You won’t grab Earth by the pussy!”
