While I was reading this book my intention was to see where I fit into it all. I wanted to connect Leticia Nieto’s work with the work GRuB has been conducting in the realm of anti-oppression. The question consistently appearing in my mind was: How can I use my privileges to work toward allyship? However, I am feeling conflicted about this intention the more I talk with people and read about oppression. The concepts in this book are very relevant and helpful for people to understand the society that consumes and categorizes us, and one of them addressed my hesitation with my initial question, which is about “agent distancing.”
