fall readings
about our books
most assigned readings for fall are available to borrow from library ebook collections. they can be borrowed onto most laptops, phones, tablets, and dedicated ereaders. for anyone who prefers to read in paper, hard copies of our books are available for purchase online.
Keep in mind that copies of borrowed ebooks expire, and this can create logistical problems over the quarter. So let’s meet for instruction before we start borrowing. we’ll figure out how best to borrow on our first day of class, so bring with you whatever gadget you will intend to read from.
reader software
Adobe Digital Editions – necessary to interface with library ebook collections (when downloading a loaner, choose “do not authenticate” to avoid drm hassles)
Adobe Digital Editions accessibility add-on — adds text to speech functionality
Calibre – open access ebook manager, sort of like itunes for ebooks; text to speech accessibility feature is built in
understanding ebook formats — untangling and respecting drm restrictions
for accessibility questions regarding ebooks, please contact Tracy Tuzzolino, coordinator of the assistive techbology lab in Library 2318, ext. 6090.
