2011 Gender Alliance of South Sound Scholarship Available

Do you know a trans student that could use some financial support?

The scholarship is awarded to out transgender individuals and is based on a combination of achievements in the areas of academic excellence, leadership, extra-curricular activities, and on financial need. As visibly out trans-people these special individuals will be perceptibly challenging many of the societal prejudices that trans-folk encounter within educational and professional institutions.

GASS hopes this funding will help to facilitate the growth and advancement of not only these students, but of our communities as well. GASS is committed to the concept that trans-people should be encouraged to help other trans-people.

The fund is open to any student who will be enrolled in college or trade school this coming fall quarter. Applications are open now and available on line at http://www.southsoundgender.com/scholarship.html

Last year an Evergreen student was the recipient of a $1000 scholarship from GASS!!!!
