MES Spring 2011 Internship
Position Title:
MES Leadership Intern
Time Commitment:
20 hours/week for 4-credit, one quarter internship
Stipend:
$500
Internship Description:
The internship is meant to provide intern with leadership and program administration skills by having intern assist MES leadership with various projects, events, and research. Intern’s work will directly benefit current and future MES students.
Intern Duties:
- Event planning assistance for the 2011 Hooding Ceremony for 2011 graduates on June 10
- Possible event assistance with MES student workshops, Rachel Carson Forum (Spring quarter), recruitment events, and lectures or films
- Produce MES newsletter
- Various research projects to aid in MES student recruitment and retention, as well as alumni involvement.
Required Qualifications:
Must be enrolled MES student during quarter internship is completed. A student who is walking in the June 2011 hooding ceremony is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Event planning experience
- Creative thinker
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Previous group collaboration experience
- Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Publisher
- Web design, e-newsletter, or html experience—experience with Adobe inDesign a plus
- Quick learner; self-motivated; able to work alone or with a team
