This position provides a high level of executive support to the Oregon Zoo Director and the zoo’s executive management team. The person in this position must possess strong customer service and communication skills; the ability to successfully navigate and discern competing interests and requests in a dynamic and political environment; and the ability to maintain confidentiality at all times. On a daily basis, this position is responsible for the efficient management of the Director’s busy calendar. Other tasks include responding to phone calls and emails, filing, compiling data, documenting relevant information for a variety of committees and meetings, and preparing necessary information. The person in this position plays a key role in facilitating a smooth flow of operations within the office by managing competing priorities and providing information, resources and insight to the Director. Conducts research and produces complex reports as needed by the Director and management staff. The Executive Assistant will frequently communicate and act as liaison between the Director’s office and the internal and external zoo-wide community, including Oregon Zoo Foundation Board Members, Metro Council Office and Association of Zoos and Aquariums. This position reports to the Zoo Director.

Minimum Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree and two years of responsible high-level executive and administrative support or any combination of education and experience that would provide the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge and ability required to perform the job. Experience working with board members and/or elected officials is preferred. Advanced skills with Microsoft Office suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Exposure to SharePoint and EBMS Software a plus. Required to obtain a current and valid Oregon Notary Public Certification.
