Forest Youth Success is a summer work program for Skamania County teens. Participants complete outdoor work projects such as trail work, weed removal, and campsite improvements for the USFS and other public agencies. We focus on role modeling work ethic and professional behavior, teaching natural resource management and forest ecology, and encouraging the development of life skills like teamwork and communication through the use of 4-H portable ropes initiatives.

ASSISTANT COORDINATOR is needed to help plan and facilitate staff and student training weeks, assist with logistics, and help plan & lead group activities. Seeking someone with extensive skills in ropes course initiatives, group facilitation, working with teens and at-risk populations, leading educational activities, designing environmental education curriculum, and forest-related or outdoor field work. Must be 21 yrs or older, with a good driving record. This position will start with part-time work in April or May, depending on selected applicant’s availability, and will be a full-time position from June 13 – Aug 24.

ADULT CREW LEADERS are needed to run 6-student work crews on a variety of outdoor labor projects. These positions are full time from June 23 to Aug. 24. Must be 21 yrs or older, with a good driving record. Looking for leaders with experience working with at-risk teens, leading groups or crews, knowledge of field biology, trail work, or construction, group facilitation skills. Must be an excellent role model, hard worker, enthusiastic and positive.

Positions are open until filled, with interviews starting in April.
