Two Fish Tech 1 jobs are very limited duration for creeling in part of June through July but at least 40hrs per week during the period lamprey harvest is open regardless if there are harvesters or not (stationed at Clackamette and Meldrum Bar boat launches.  The Fish Tech 2 job is close to a full-time seasonal position (can’t guarantee 40hrs per week as we’re not sure how fish will come in).

Gather fisheries creel data on the Tribal harvest at Willamette Falls. Collection of biological samples from Pacific lamprey (eels) caught during the harvest period. Assist in organizing creel and biological data. Assist with the collection and tagging of adult lamprey at Willamette Falls. Develop and maintain successful working relationships with various tribal and non-tribal entities. Engage in successful public contact. Opportunities may be available to participate in other field and computer work. Willingness to work a widerange of hours. These positions may require working long hours, weekends, and holidays, in potentially adverse conditions. Excellent communications skills, duty station is Oregon City. Valid Oregon Drivers license, High School graduate or equivalent GED, related experience desired, must successful pass a drug test. Salary Range $10. Hr. to $13. Hr.

Lamprey Tech 2 780401

Assist with a mark-recapture experiment to estimate abundance of adult Pacific lamprey at Willamette Falls. Assist Lamprey Project Leader in maintain half-duplex PIT tag antennae array in the fish ladder at Willamette Falls; maintain underwater video cameras to capture lampreys passing through the fish ladder; collect adult Pacific lamprey by trapping and dip netting in the fish ladder, assist in lamprey salvage in old fishway Willamette Falls; insert half-duplex PIT tags and dart/floy tags into lamprey; collect tissue samples, reliably record data; work in a safe manner; work independently but with Portland General Electric, Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, and other researchers at the hydroelectric facility at Willamette Falls; math and reporting skill required. Must be flexible in work schedule-day and night work, early hours, perhaps some weekends and holidays, and in all weather conditions. Extended periods of physical labor maybe required. Able to lift and carry upwards of 50 lbs. Need to be agile; climbing on slippery rocks below the falls will be required. Work site will be a t Willamette Falls. Must have a valid driver’s license, High School graduate or equivalent GED, one year college level classes in a major related to natural resources or one year experience as a natural resource technician. Must successfully pass a drug test. Prior experience in research and or interest in fish biology strongly encouraged to apply. Salary Range $11.00 Hr. to $14.00 Hr.
