In Partnership with the Confluence Environmental Center (CEC), OPAL Environmental Justice Oregon seeks a Membership Coordinator for our Bus Riders Unite transit justice and health equity program.

OPAL organizers engage targeted outreach, primarily in East Portland and East Multnomah County, building a membership base of transit-dependent riders from low-income communities, communities of color, youth, elderly and disabled, to prioritize transit issues and raise awareness of the relationship between transportation decision-making and public health.

The Membership Coordinator will, in conjunction with Community Organizers, coordinate and facilitate Bus Riders Unite (BRU) leadership and membership activities (50%); educate BRU members on issues of transit justice and health equity (20%); support and facilitate community BRU events to further outreach and campaign work (20%); and perform administrative duties to support OPAL program work (10%).

WATERSHED COORDINATOR (PART-TIME)

The Watershed Coordinator oversees on-the-ground watershed restoration and monitoring activities, and provides education and advocacy on behalf of the Tryon Creek watershed. He or she provides the sole staff support for the Tryon Creek Watershed Council. In order to accomplish watershed restoration goals, the Coordinator will work closely with Watershed Council members, volunteers, homeowners, businesses, neighborhood associations, partnering organizations, government agencies and other watershed stakeholders.

This is a 0.5 FTE position, with possible room for growth depending on grant income.

About the Tryon Creek Watershed Council:
The Tryon Creek Watershed Council (TCWC) is a group of concerned citizens, nonprofit organizations, government representatives and other stakeholders working together to improve the health of Tryon Creek and its watershed. The Council has been actively bringing the community together since 1994 when a small group of concerned citizens joined forces to become stewards of our natural heritage. Today, the Council coordinates over 500 volunteers every year at more than 10 sites. We advocate for increased protection of our waterways and advise local and regional government planning, assessment, monitoring and preservation initiatives.

Compensation:
· $15-$18/hour DOE
· 20-25 hour/week, depending on current grant income.
· Schedule is flexible but attendance at Saturday work parties is required.
· Two weeks paid vacation in the first year.
· There are no benefits offered.

The Natural Resource Specialist will help develop and implement Park Natural Resources Management Plans. The individual will be involved in a variety of activities including: supervision and planning of restoration projects including working volunteers (50%), invasive plant species mapping and control (30%), management plan development (10%), and natural resources assessments (10%). This position will be an exciting mix of outdoors field work conducting natural resource inventory and projects and program development work.
