Position Overview:
PECI seeks a Senior Technical Lead with experience in implementing demand response and retrofit strategies for commercial buildings to join our Technical Research Group (TRG). This group serves PECI’s cross-cutting technical needs, focusing on the following key areas: directing and advising research projects, developing and communicating PECI’s point of view on key technical issues in industry venues, guiding technical consistency for energy savings calculation techniques, evaluating industry strategies, researching emerging technologies, and technical training for PECI engineering staff. In this role the Senior Technical Lead will utilize their knowledge and experience to develop new program platforms and approaches for integrated demand side management.
Responsibilities:
Develop strategies and assist teams in incorporating platforms and approaches into utility program designs
Lead technical research to support advancement of demand side management approaches
Develop calculation methodologies, cost effectiveness, and supporting documentation
Train staff and disseminate technical knowledge through PECI’s internal training program
Participate in thought leadership venues such as conferences or technical advisory groups
Identify and analyze demand reduction and retrofit measures in buildings, including scoping studies/audits, diagnostic techniques, in-depth systems analysis, and demand reduction and energy savings calculations
Qualifications:
Experience with demand side management program research or implementation
Market experience facilitating decision-making processes with commercial building owners
Understanding of utility priorities and programs
High level of proficiency with spreadsheet analysis
B.S. in Engineering preferred; individuals with a related technical degree coupled with directly relevant professional experience will be considered
A minimum of 7 years experience in the areas above
Key Competencies:
Knowledge of commercial building owners’ decision-making practices and how to facilitate action
Strong technical writing and presentation skills including; reports, supporting documentation to energy savings calculations, and conference papers
Effective project management skills including; setting project objectives, scope, budget and schedule.
Ability to work productively in a fast-paced consulting environment, proactively communicate, and mentor technical and non-technical staff
Proven industry leadership with a strong understanding of underlying market influences on technical issues
Acumen in critical and systematic thinking connecting the dots between technical and market engagement concepts to create new energy efficiency approaches
