Environmental Education and Outreach Coordinator
Grays Harbor NWR in Hoquiam Washington is seeking a qualified individual to coordinate the Refuge’s environmental education and outreach programs. The work involves development and implementation of education programs in Grays Harbor County including teacher training, classroom presentations, and field studies. The Coordinator also assists with the planning of the Grays Harbor Shorebird Festival and manages the Refuge’s volunteer program. The coordinator works out of Nisqually NWR in Olympia Washington.
Recommended Background

A degree in education, environmental education, or similar

Experience working with students, teachers, and volunteers

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Excellent computer and organizational skills

The ability to take initiative and work independently with little supervision
Additional Requirements These individuals serve as AmeriCorps members administered by the Washington State Employment Security Department and must also meet the following requirements:

Must be 18-25 years of age

Must be willing to serve 40 hrs/week, September 15 – August 1

Must be a U.S. Citizen, National, or Permanent Resident Alien of the U.S.

Must have a High School Diploma or GED, or agree to obtain one while serving.

Earn $1,125 per month living stipend

Receive an Education Award of $5,550 for prior student loans for future education
