Volunteer Event
Tuesday October 25, 2011
9AM-3PM

Last week we had a successful volunteer day preparing the raised beds at Shotwell’s Landing for sowing seeds.  We were able to get many of the beds tarped, and had a beautiful day outside.  Thanks everyone for your help!

This week we will meet at Mima Creek Preserve.  We will be using dibbles to plant over three thousand plugs of emergent vegetation.  Sanders recently created three shallow ponds at Mima Creek which will provide habitat for Oregon spotted frog (Rana pretiosa).  We will have a chance to check it out while we’re there and learn more about the Oregon spotted frog from Sanders.
It’s going to be very muddy, so bring waterproof boots and warm clothes (hats, gloves, etc).
If you’d like to stay indoors, there is still more seed to clean at Glacial Heritage.

I will not be there on Tuesday due to an Americorps training.

Keep your eyes posted for news about a slash pile burn in the near future!

As always, please make sure to bring gloves, lunch, rain gear, and a smile.
