Positions Available: Scientific Aide (2 positions); Clear Lake National Wildlife Refuge and other nearby locations within Modoc County.
Rate of Pay: $11.58 – 13.34 per hour depending on education and field experience.
Work Hours: Normal work schedules are Monday – Friday, 8 hrs per day, not to exceed 40 hours in one week.
Season: Begin January 1, 2012 and continue through December 15, 2012.

Duties: Under the supervision of California Department of Fish and Game, the employees will gather data including nesting propensity, nest success, recruitment, habitat use, and seasonal movements of an augmented population of greater sage-grouse. These data will be summarized and presented in annual reports to be completed prior to end of appointment.
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Equivalent to completion of 2 years of college with a minimum of 10 semester hours in biological sciences.
Experience and/or educational background in biological surveying, field sampling, studying or evaluating wildlife populations and habitats. Radio–telemetry experience is desirable.
Organizational and competency skills to accurately collect, record, and report data.
Willingness to work in inclement weather, and in rough terrain.
Physical capability and endurance to conduct fieldwork in remote settings, including the ability to carry up to 40 lbs over rough terrain.
Possession of a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
