Thurston County Health Department’s new Healthy Homes program volunteer
training begins next week on Thursday, January 19 from 6:00-9:00 pm. We
are still recruiting volunteers, please help us spread the word by
sharing this information or the attached flyer. Interested volunteers,
or potential volunteers should call or e-mail Jane Mountjoy-Venning at :

Healthy Homes will train volunteers and provide free healthy home
visits to homes and to child care centers in Thurston County. During a
Healthy Homes visit a pair of volunteers meets with the resident and
walks with them through their home, addressing ways the resident can
reduce their exposure to toxins, asthma triggers, mold, lead, and other
housing-related health risks.

The inaugural Healthy Homes hands-on training begins Thursday, Jan 19,
2012 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm and continues every Thursday evening
until March 22. Sessions are held at the Thurston County Public Health
and Social Services Department at 412 Lilly Rd. NE, Olympia, 98506;
across from St. Peter’s Hospital. Healthy Homes volunteers participate
in 30 hours of training and then complete 30 hours of Healthy Homes
community service.
