org<http://www.girlscoutsww.org>) is currently seeking an individual that wants to make a positive impact in the lives of girls. Experience working with at risk youth and/or a largely ESL population is preferred. The Program Assistant will help with our Girl Scouts Skills for Life program, geared toward girls living in low-income housing communities – many of the participants are immigrants with limited access to out-of-school activities. The participants focus on life skills and leadership development, healthy ideals and positive choices, study skills and college readiness, and building dreams and aspirations for college and careers. Program sites, days and vary but are held on weekdays between 3:00 and 7:00pm. The program sites include locations in Auburn, Kent, Des Moines, Renton, Skyway and White Center, so reliable transportation is required. This is a part-time (15 hours per week) position with no health or leave benefits.

Essential Functions:

65% Assist in the planning and delivery of troop/group program, activities, and events as outlined in the GSUSA and Girl Scouts of Western Washington policies and program materials, and in compliance with program and/or project contracts. Serve as the second adult in troop meetings and events. Assist in the transportation of girls to program meetings, field trips, and other events as needed.

15% Assist in obtaining and preparing program materials and supplies. Help ensure completion of forms, gathering and maintenance of records and reports that include: troop attendance, girl and volunteer registration forms, event permission slips and evaluation and outcome surveys.

15% Assist in the recruitment and retention of all girls 5-17 years of age, in cooperation with agency partners and other community supporters. Assist in providing culturally appropriate information materials to families and girls that show the benefits of the Girl Scout program. Assist in efforts to invite and involve families in Girl Scout family activities and events. Assist in recruiting and coordinating adults as troop, activity or event volunteers from families and the local community. Assist in conducting recognition activities in cooperation with council and agency partners.

5% Communicate weekly with Program Coordinators for program delivery needs and guidance.

Qualifications:
* Associate of Arts degree in related field or equivalent experience
* Strong interpersonal skills to work with children and adults from diverse backgrounds
* Able to communicate effectively in English, both oral and written, to a largely ESL population
* Knowledge of youth development
* Basic computer skills preferred – Word, Excel (data entry and flyer design)
* Previous Girl Scout experience, especially leading troops, strongly preferred
* Valid Washington State driver’s license, excellent driving record, vehicle in working condition, proof of insurance, and the ability to fulfill travel requirements
* Satisfactory results from criminal background search
* Willingness to complete or update Girl Scout leadership training, and other relevant training
* Ability to lift at least thirty pounds of program materials
* Willingness to maintain Girl Scout membership
