Position Title: Statewide Field Organizer (Bilingual Spanish)
Reports to: Executive Director
Supervises: Project interns and volunteers
Summary:
The Statewide Field Organizer is responsible for membership mobilization and bilingual community outreach to support NARAL Pro-Choice Washington’s various field, education, and advocacy programs. This position includes volunteer and activist recruitment, project management, and event planning.
Primary areas of focus include, but are not limited to: emergency contraception access, limited service pregnancy center advocacy, reproductive health disparities, increasing overall access to reproductive health services and information, and protecting the right to choose safe and legal abortion in Washington State.
**NOTE: This position absolutely requires fluent proficiency in spoken and written English and Spanish. Please do not apply if you do not meet this qualification.
Duties & Responsibilities:
General:
1. Supervise project interns and volunteers
2. Membership and activist mobilization
3. Create biweekly plans and track progress
4. Stay current on issues and messaging
5. Provide activist and partner trainings as needed
6. Assist with other NARAL Pro-Choice Washington events as needed
7. Perform other tasks as are appropriate to this position and/or needed by the organization as decided and requested by the Executive Director
Field Work
1. Responsible for working with the Volunteer Coordinator to table at fairs and rallies primarily in the summer, but also throughout the year
2. Responsible for event planning all aspects of the annual “Run for Your Rights” 5k run/walk fundraiser with the Volunteer Coordinator
3. Organize and chair all community based field campaigns
4. Organize existing or new Choice Action Teams
Community Education and Outreach
1. Responsible for implementing all grant projects
2. Track project deadlines and plan accordingly
3. Regular check ins with Executive Director re: goals and measurable outcomes
4. Work closely with Canvass Director and Policy Director on all advocacy campaigns
5. Maintain regular community partner communication
6. Write grant reports under the supervision of Executive Director and/or other staff
7. Update bilingual access guide as needed
Legislative Work
1. Write and execute plan for Reproductive Health & Rights Lobby Day in conjunction with coalition partners
2. Work closely with Policy & Communications Director and lobbyist on messaging and materials
3. Recruit volunteers to attend Lobby Day
Requirements
Strong personal commitment to the protection of the fundamental right to choose
Fluent in written and spoken Spanish and English required. In order to best achieve the program goals of NARAL Pro-Choice Washington the candidate must fill this requirement.
Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following areas: planning, public administration, business, social science, law, project management, or related field or equivalent work experience. Graduate training in related field is a plus.
One year professional experience in a non-profit, advocacy or political organization.
Computer literacy with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Access. Database experience and ability to learn to use NARAL’s database
Excellent communication skills
Ability to understand complex policies and present them in a clear and appealing manner to diverse groups
Ability to manage several projects at one time, set and follow priorities
Ability to work cooperatively with board members, staff, volunteers, coalition partners and the general public
Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced political environment
Ability to work weekends and evenings as needed, and work well under pressure
Ability to work overtime and irregular hours as needed
Ability to travel when necessary, access to personal transportation, availability for some overnight stays
Preferred
Experience working with diverse cultures
Experience planning events
Physical demands include standing, sitting, walking, talking, hearing, frequent use of telephone, occasional need to lift up to25 pounds. Travel for organizing and events.
Salary: $27,000 to 31,000 DOE plus benefits.
