See Below The Institute for Applied Ecology is seeking an Ecological Education Coordinator with strong personal, organizational, and teaching skills to assist its Ecological Education Program Director in implementing its education and restoration outreach programs.

Specific responsibilities:

The Ecological Education Coordinator will implement our educational and restoration outreach program. The coordinator will maintain communications with teachers and partner organizations along with teaching ecological lessons in the classroom and coordinating school field days and restoration activities. The Education Coordinator will provide a fun and educational learning experience for all participants

This person will be responsible for managing teaching and field trip scheduling, growing target native species with students, designing and overseeing educational evaluations and summarizing program achievements.

The Education Coordinator will work closely with the Ecological Education Program Director and may investigate opportunities for funding and assist with grant writing. In addition they may assist with other Ecological Education projects as requested by the Program Director.

Qualifications we are looking for:

  • Great people skills, outgoing, energetic, and flexible.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a biological topic or teaching certification.
  • Experience working with students.
  • Highly organized. Ability to manage multiple objectives.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience growing plants –preferably native species.
  • Knowledge about native plants.
  • Demonstrated computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Enthusiasm for and experience with environmental conservation, particularly in the Pacific Northwest.

 

Compensation and start date:

  • The pay rate for this position will be $17 an hour.
  • This is a half-time position and is eligible for IAE’s retirement contributions and paid holidays.
  • Funding for this position is secured for nine months. However, the position could be extended contingent on future funding.
