EMSL Analytical, Inc. is currently seeking a full-time Laboratory Analyst – Environmental for its Baton Rouge, LA location.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Prepare/Analyze air and bulk material for asbestos using PLM, PCM, and TEM, to determine the visual percentage and optical properties of asbestos and non asbestos material.
Preparing environmental lead samples, Analysis by Flame AA and Graphite AA, and reviewing and reporting of data
Prepare and analyze environmental microbiology samples for analysis
Assist with clerical and lab duties as needed, such as data entry, sample review, and maintenance and calibration of laboratory instrumentation/equipment
Perform QA/QC practices per company QA/QC manual

Requirements:

Bachelors Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Geology or the sciences is necessary.
Experience in an environmental laboratory setting a plus.
1-2 years of asbestos PLM/TEM/PCM analysis experience is preferred but not required – Will Train
Experienced Asbestos PLM/TEM Analysts welcomed and encouraged to apply

1-2 years experience with Flame AA is a plus
Must be able to multi-task and work in a fast paced deadline driven environment
Ability to work independently and with a team
Candidate must be able to distinguish colors in order to perform analysis.
Strong computer skills are also necessary
Must have good communication skills must be able to communicate with clients
Proficiency with typing and with MS Office is plus
Must be willing and able to work extra hours and weekends to meet business demands

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Some extra hours may be required to meet business demands.
