Oregon League of Conservation Voters is seeking a dynamic External Affairs Director to join our team.

About OLCV and OCN: OLCV and is Oregon’s leading environmental political group. OLCV runs aggressive campaigns to elect pro-environment leaders and hold elected officials accountable. The organization’

s charitable arm, the OLCV Education Fund, leads and coordinates the Oregon Conservation Network’s (OCN) lobbying and legislative efforts in Salem. OCN is a coalition of nearly 50 environmental organizations, sponsored and facilitated by OLCV-EF, which works together to rally support for conservation and environmental issues in the state legislature.

Start date no later than November 14, 2012.

The successful candidate for External Affairs Director will have strong legislative, communications and organizing experience and skills as well as a passion for protecting Oregon’s environment. The External Affairs Director reports to the Executive Director. This is not an entry level position.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have a strong personal commitment to the environment and to OLCV’s mission. He or she will have excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work effectively as a legislative advocate with people from both sides of the aisle and with non-traditional potential allies. OLCV’s headquarters are in downtown Portland. Regular travel within the state is required, with rare travel outside the state. During Legislative Sessions, almost daily travel to and from Salem will be required.
