The National Park Service will be hiring crews to perform backcountry field research in Yukon-Charley Rivers NP, a large and remote wilderness national park unit in Alaska during summer 2013. We need serious, energetic, and skilled botanists for paid seasonal positions with the Long Term Vegetation Monitoring Program field crews – up to four positions will be available. Each crew will have a vascular plant botanist (with proven experience and ability to identify grasses, sedges and other difficult
taxa) and a technician with strong skills in field soil science.
This is a great opportunity to do meaningful fieldwork in the spectacular wildlands of Alaska and to gain skills and experience working as a field botanist or soil scientist. What is required: A strong work ethic, excellent physical conditioning, well-developed skills in field botany, soils, and plant ecology and willingness to work hard in remote and challenging backcountry situations.
