The Fish and Wildlife Programs of the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest seeks to fill four Biological Technician positions (GS-4 and/or GS-5) to work from May through August (dates to be determined). The program strives to protect, conserve, and restore native fish and wildlife resources. Candidates should have or be seeking a degree in biology, natural resources, or related field. Work will be performed in crews with this position being supervised by both the wildlife and fisheries biologists. The 2013 program will focus on performing Management Indicator Species (MIS) monitoring surveys for Bonneville and Colorado cutthroat trout, Snowshoe Hare, and Goshawk. This position requires strenuous field work during all types of weather conditions, often on steep or uneven terrain. Experience with electrofishing, wildlife identification, GIS, GPS, field computers, or other technology is considered a plus and should be highlighted in the application materials. One crew will have a duty station of Logan, Utah and the other crew will be stationed out of Evanston, Wyoming. Government housing may be available for the crew stationed in Evanston.
