Merrimack College

Merrimack College invites applications for a Visiting Associate Professor
of Philosophy and Director of the Environmental Studies and Sustainability
Program
beginning fall 2013. The successful applicant may be a candidate
for a tenure-track position to begin fall 2014. AOS: Environmental
Philosophy. AOC: Moral and Political Philosophy. Multidisciplinary and
intercultural perspectives are preferred. Applicants should have taught at
the assistant professor level for 3-5 years and have a PhD by time of
appointment.  The position involves teaching 4 courses/year, 3 in Philosophy (including
Introduction to Philosophy) and 1 ESS Gateway course. Other duties include
advising majors and minors in the ESS program, advising the student-run Green Team,
serving on the Sustainable Merrimack Committee, and planning co-curricular
events and activities.

The Environmental Studies and Sustainability Program is a
two-year old, innovative program that offers students both major and minor
options with tracks that include courses from the Schools of Business,
Liberal Arts, and Science and Engineering. Merrimack College is a private
college located 25 miles north of Boston. The Philosophy Program and the
Environmental Studies and Sustainability Program are integrally linked to
the ideals of experiential education, sustainability, and social justice as
set forth in Merrimack College’s Agenda for Distinction.
