The NOAA Administrator has made the implementation of fishing sectors a high priority. Therefore the Northeast Enforcement Division (NED) will conduct substantial outreach to the fishing industry to explain sectors and to develop the communications protocols that will allow sharing large amounts of data on a weekly or even daily basis. The NED will actively engage with industry and the Northeast Regional Office to identify opportunities to educate and improve compliance of the fishing regulations
of NOAA.
Integrated Statistics is looking for someone to work with NOAA in Gloucester, MA to provide assistance and advice to the Office of Law Enforcement (OLE) in the Northeast Enforcement Division. Normal business hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Requirements for Environmental Specialist Support and Outreach Support Position
a. Briefings for stakeholders regarding the OLE program & development of informational materials.
b. Interpretation of regulations to be distributed to stakeholders by direct contact, through Councils, Commission and media outlets.
c. Coordinate outreach efforts, including media input/response with the Headquarters Communications Officer.
d. Coordinate public outreach by performing logistics for public and private meetings between OLE and stakeholders.
e. Development of a tracking system for regulatory development providing OLE guidance to councils throughout the Northeast Region.
f. Create a mechanism to ensure that “Precepts for Developing Enforceable Fisheries Regulations are adhered to during the regulatory process.
g. Data entry, tracking and reporting of time sensitive information including quality control of activities through applicable NOAA data bases.
h. Write cyclic reports that include weekly highlights, quarterly and annual reports.
i. Solicit industry questions/concerns and coordinate response.
Qualifications: Bachelors or higher degree in Environmental Science or related field. Minor in law or law classes.
Experience with databases helpful.
Experience with MS Word, Excel, web pages and excellent writing and communications skills.
Compensation: $20-$25/hour + benefits including health, dental, retirement plans, paid vacation, sick and holiday leave.
