Summary:  This position is located in our Centennial, Colorado office. Occasional travel may be required to our offices in Colorado Springs and Nebraska. The geographic information systems (GIS) specialist is self-motivated, as well as team oriented, and provides support on projects associated with transportation and other infrastructure. With general supervision provides routine technical support by performing the following duties.

 

Essential duties and responsibilities:  (Other duties may be assigned)

 

*   Support GIS activities as needed, including digitizing and map production, and spatial analysis.

*   Provide field GIS/GPS support utilizing Trimble GPS and ArcPad mobile GIS.

*   Collect related on-line literature in support of environmental technical reports.

*   Support GIS data gathering, data entry, and data documentation needs.

*   Provide job specific quality system tasks as defined in the QA/QC Manual.; performs and understands field measurements according to SOPs and QA/QC protocols.

 

Desired Skills & Experience

 

Education and/or experience:  Bachelor’s degree in geography or related field and 0-5 years of experience needed.  Previous education and/or direct experience with GIS, CAD, and database software required.  Must have the ability to operate a computer and basic knowledge of the following computer software:  Microsoft Applications including PowerPoint, Word, Excel Access, and Outlook.  Proficient in ESRI ArcGIS software including ArcMap, ArcCatalog, and ArcToolbox.  Proven attention to detail in work and ability to meet project deadlines required.

 

In addition to the basic qualifications, the ideal candidate may also possess the experience and/or qualifications in the application of GIS to areas specific to our practice such as visual resources evaluation, biological or other natural resource evaluations, transportation planning, or infrastructure project evaluation.
