Assistant Professor – Sustainable Energy
The Environmental Science Department at Allegheny College invites applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning August 2014. We seek an individual with interdisciplinary teaching and research interests in environmental science and studies and a strong commitment to undergraduate education. We are particularly interested in candidates with teaching and research expertise in energy efficiency, energy conservation, and sustainable energy. The ideal candidate will engage students in quantitative lab or field-based classes in energy efficiency, renewable energy, green building, engineering, or urban planning. A Ph.D. and previous teaching experience strongly preferred. Teaching load is 6 courses a year and will include upper-level courses with laboratory components in the candidate’s area of expertise, a course on energy and climate policy, and courses in the college-wide freshman-sophomore curriculum. Other courses may include introductory environmental science, sophomore-level environmental problem-solving, and environmental research methods. Allegheny College is a highly selective private liberal arts college with a dedicated faculty of teacher-scholars.
