Position Dates: March through October, 2014

Salary: $9.17 per hour

Number of openings: 3

 

Duties: Park Ranger Aides perform a variety of duties at Dead Horse Point State Park.  Those duties include:

•              Greeting visitors as they arrive in the park

•              Staffing and collecting fees at the entrance station

•              Staffing and collect fees at the visitor center information desk

•              Greeting visitors as they enter the visitor center

•              Answering visitor questions about park resources

•              Providing information to visitors on park regulations concerning day use and camping activities

•              Answering visitor questions about park and area recreational opportunities

•              Assisting gift shop customers with questions about products

•              Operating the gift shop register

•              Stocking the gift shop with product in back stock as needed

•              Assisting with gift shop inventory as needed

•              Completing end of shift reports, accounting and closing procedures.

•              Cleaning and maintaining park facilities, hiking, and biking trails as needed

•              Developing interpretive talks, walks, or activities to present to park visitors

•              Assisting with Search and Rescue operations or medical incidents as needed

•              Working on special projects as needed

 

Other: Work is performed in a remote setting with limited resources and conveniences. Ranger aides may live on-site in a two-bedroom, dormitory-style setting, and will be required to work weekends and holidays. Housing is free and a uniform is provided.
