We are looking to hire a manager for our Environmental and Social Sustainability Lab, in the School of Environment and Natural Resources at Ohio State University.  This position is half time with opportunities to expand into more than half time, and we are looking for someone with social science training.  As a 20-hour per week appointment this position qualifies for OSU’s excellent benefits.

 

Job Description

Manages multiple components of the Environmental and Social Sustainability (ESS) lab which is a community of scholars working to build scientific understanding of environmental and social sustainability in an interdisciplinary context; designs, develops and directs the execution on the analysis of social science research projects, especially the annual survey of OSU undergraduates; conducts independent data analysis and analyzes data from previous surveys; prepares materials for publications and grants; administers the annual survey and manages the resulting database; manages the content for the ESS website; compiles and evaluates funding opportunities; writes reports, extension publications, and press releases based on scientific research; assists, or takes the lead, in grant writing; assists faculty and students in manuscript development (e.g. literature analysis, formatting); coordinates communication among ESS Lab members; drafts IRB applications; manages lab equipment (e.g. mobile media lab equipment, computer software updates, maintaining software licenses); assists with general outreach activities such as seminars and special events.
