Climate and Clean Energy Campaign Associate
POSITION SUMMARY
Washington Environmental Council is in the midst of a five-year Climate and Clean Energy Agenda, a long-term commitment to move the dial on state policy to reduce emissions, use energy efficiently, transition to clean energy, and set limits on global warming pollution that drive a clean energy future. Now is an exciting time to be working on climate change policy in Washington – with the greenest governor in the nation and a motivated population, we have confidence we can make large strides in addressing this most important of issues and acting as a model for the nation.
We are seeking a Campaign Associate who can support this effort going forward, and work with the Campaign Director, other WEC staff, and partner organizations to carry out this work.

Our agenda is built on partnerships, including with Climate Solutions, Sightline Institute, other environmental community partners, and most importantly, a broad range of interests that are working for clean energy and a safe climate. The successful candidate will be adept at working with many kinds of people and helping drive disparate interests toward meaningful results.
The position works closely with and is supervised by Climate and Clean Energy Campaign Director, Sasha Pollack, and is based in Seattle, Washington.
RESPONSIBILITIES
 Work with core partners to further the Climate and Clean Energy Agenda.
 Support specific, identified campaign efforts related to energy efficiency, renewable energy, reducing use of fossil fuels, and limiting greenhouse gas emissions. Duties may include strategy development, policy development and analysis, advocacy with decision-makers, participating in and/or leading coalitions, overseeing WEC’s participation in litigation, and presenting WEC’s policy goals in a variety of forums.
 Work collaboratively with core agenda partners and conduct outreach to bring additional strategic partners into the campaigns.
 Work with WEC and our partners’ communications and organizing staff to conduct media outreach and engage WEC members, coalition partners, and the public in our campaigns.
 Work with WEC fundraising staff on grant proposals, reports, and other tasks as assigned to support funding the Climate and Clean Energy Agenda.
 Additional duties may be assigned within the course of the work.

QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
 At least 2 years of demonstrated success in policy advocacy, analysis or issue campaigns
 Knowledge of environmental law and policy
 Knowledge of Washington politics preferred
 Experience with climate, clean energy, renewable energy, land use, transportation and/or energy efficiency policy; related experience may be considered.
Skills and Knowledge:
 Flexible, creative and able to work in a changing and unpredictable policy environment
 Strong written, verbal, and analytic skills
 Excellent communication, project management and interpersonal skills
 Good at navigating complex working environments and building relationships with integrity
 Ability to work effectively, both independently and with a team, in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
 Strong commitment to the mission and vision of Washington Environmental Council.
COMPENSATION
Competitive salary commensurate with experience. In addition to salary we offer a generous benefits package including medical, dental, flexible spending account, paid leave, and retirement.
