HYCC Program Manager POSITION DESCRIPTION

Kupu is a 501c3 nonprofit organization which aims to empower youth to serve their communities
through character building, service learning, and environmental stewardship. Kupu aims to train and
equip young adults in Hawaii and throughout the Pacific Rim with work skills, life skills, and knowledge
to help them become successful as individuals and as part of the greater community. Kupu is staffed by
people with a heart to better Hawaii while working as a team with a purpose of doing what is pono and
doing what is best for Hawaii and its people. Kupu is a team-focused, vibrant, and synergistic
organization whose culture is dynamic and seeks to make a larger impact on Hawaii.

Program Goals
• Provide training and education to Hawaii’s youth
• Help to expose youth to conservation issues and develop an environmental mindset
• Assist community development through skills training, job and internship placement, civic
engagement, and career pathway development
• Develop members in specific vocations to prepare them to enter into the workforce

Position Duties
The Program Manager position is a full-time position that includes, but is not limited to, the following
duties:
• Work with HYCC/AmeriCorps programs team to develop, implement, coordinate and
evaluate program needs, goals, delivery systems, and outcomes as follows:
 Effectively manage program and members
 Ensure that the programs run smoothly and efficiently
 Oversee, organize, and coordinate program logistics
 Monitor and/or manage program coordinators, members and partnering sites
 Ensure healthy partnerships are maintained, unhealthy ones are improved, and
new ones are developed
 Manage program/project budgets and adhere to Kupu’s fiscal policies and
responsibilities
o Recruiting and Selection
 Oversee member recruitment, interview, and selection process
 Ensure that all required documents are collected in a timely manner
 Oversee all correspondence with applicants
 Conduct/attend outreach presentations and site visits
o Orientation and Training
 Continue to develop training and educational curriculum
 Facilitate the planning of orientations and trainings
 Train inexperienced staff, incorporating culture
