Wildlife Education Intern at Wildlife Safari
The Education Department at Wildlife Safari is currently accepting intern applications for the Fall 2014 season (September-December). We are looking for interns with great people skills, a passion for animals, and an energetic, positive personality! The education internship is geared towards individuals who want to explore a career in Zoo Education. Education Department Intern duties include (but are not limited to): education animal care, conducting guided tours, zoo camps, overnights and educational outreach presentations. As an intern you will care for the outreach animals and learn to use them as animal ambassadors. This is a unique, exciting and hands-on opportunity to further one’s career in Zoo education!
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Must have at least two years toward a college degree in an animal related field such as Zoology, Wildlife Biology, Conservation Education, Environmental Education, or related field
- Animal experience highly preferred but not required
- Experience working with children of a variety of ages
- Personal vehicle and valid driver’s license
- Negative TB test
- Good people skills
- Ability to work 40 hours a week and be flexible
- Able to speak to the public both individually and in a presentation setting
- Required to work outdoors and indoors in extreme weather conditions; ability to lift up to 50 (fifty) pounds
- Interns must present themselves in a professional manner during their internship
This is an unpaid three month internship. Off-site housing is offered for a small fee (no pets allowed). Transportation is NOT provided.
