The California Public Utilities Commission’s Energy Division will host several graduate or undergraduate student interns this school year. Under the guidance of senior analysts and engineers, paidinterns will assist staff in daily tasks and may be given the opportunity to lead a small project or initiative relating to emerging energy issues in California.  In addition to their specific job duties, all interns will be invited to learn about diverse policy issues and to participate broadly in Energy Division activities by attending meetings, workshops, and Commission Business Meetings. Currently available positions are as follows:

  1. Student Assistant – Resource Adequacy and Procurement Oversight
  2. Student Assistant – Energy Efficiency
  3. Student Assistant – Energy Efficiency Branch Coordination
  4. Student Assistant – Tariff Unit Program Support
  5. Student Assistant – Energy Division Website Refresh
  6. Student Assistant – Renewable Energy (graduate students only)
  7. Student Assistant – Energy System Safety Policy Research (pending; link will become active soon)

Applicants are encouraged to apply for multiple positions. The above list of positions may change; please check our posting on energyfolks for additional opportunities in the future. Submissions will be evaluated on a rolling basis until each position is filled, beginning tomorrow. Postings will be deleted when filled, though multiple interns may be hired in each role. Internships are for 8 to 20 hours per week, on-site in San Francisco. Telecommuting is not allowed. Students must be enrolled in a degree program at an eligible academic institution (list includes all state schools in California, as well as many private colleges and universities).
