Notes: This posting is for a Project Appointment, which is a professional-level, benefits-eligible, temporary job. The work is part time, scheduled to start as soon as possible, and expected to last through May, 2015.
 
The Regional Open Space Strategy for Central Puget Sound is a planning process led by the UW Green Futures Lab to work with key stakeholders to develop a set of strategies to conserve and enhance the region's essential open space resources, including urban and rural parks, trails, resource lands, ecosystems and habitat. We are seeking an Associate Planner to join our team to assist with the next phase of work, which will focus on working with advocates to develop key linked, regionally-significant strategies for four major watersheds in Central Puget Sound, and presenting those strategies in visual and narrative format.

PRIMARY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Mapping and material preparation of watershed conditions.
 
* Assist with community engagement sessions and open space planning charrettes.
 
* Illustrate and convey open space conservation and development alternatives.
 
* Outreach and communication with stakeholders.
 
* Produce final reports.
 
OTHER POTENTIAL ROLES:
 
* Assist with ecosystem service valuation.
 
* Assist with Advisory Committee meetings (e.g. Governance and Finance) and social events.
 
* Assist with grant proposal preparation.
 
* Administrative duties.
 
REQUIREMENTS:
* Master's Degree in related field; OR Bachelor's degree in Planning or Landscape Architecture and at least 1 year relevant experience.
 
* GIS analysis and mapping.
 
* Planning background.
 
* Experience with community engagement.
 
* Strong writing skills.
 
* Experience producing detailed reports.
 
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
 
DESIRED:
* Digital graphics.
 
* Grantwriting.
 
* Familiar with ecosystem service valuation methods.
 
Condition of Employment:
