Job Overview:

The Volunteer Coordinator works in the Membership, Outreach and Volunteer team, and is responsible for effectively recruiting, engaging, training and recognizing the nearly 1000 volunteers who support Cascade’s events and programs. The Volunteer Coordinator aims to cultivate volunteer engagement across multiple departments, including but not limited to education and advocacy. This person works closely with the Rides and Events staff. Key responsibilities include:

  • Functioning as the point of contact for all Cascade volunteers
  • Assessing organizational needs for volunteers in conjunction with other departments
  • Recruit and train new volunteers
  • Tracking hours and outcomes of volunteer engagement through Cascade’s database
  • Leading volunteer appreciation and recognition events

Cascade has a number of large events throughout the year requiring coordination of hundreds of volunteers. Due to this demand, the Volunteer Coordinator is required to be onsite at many Cascade events.

Department Overview:

The Membership, Outreach and Volunteer Team is focused on recruiting, retaining and stewarding Cascade Bicycle Club’s membership base, coordinating and growing the volunteer program, and increasing the number of trips by bike in the Puget Sound region. The MOV team has a direct, tangible impact on encouraging more bicycling in our community.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Experience managing volunteers
  • Ability and willingness to work frequent early mornings, evenings, and weekends at our events with commensurate time­-off during the week.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent customer service skills; able to interface well with public and work effectively with multiple stakeholders on numerous projects.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Flexible, hard­working, self­-starter. Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently. Must meet deadlines, be attentive to detail, and have the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Experience working and/or producing events.
  • WA State Driver’s License.
  • Keen interest in cycling a plus!

Employment Specifics

  • Full­-time, salaried position with frequent evening and weekend work required.
  • Reports to and is supervised by Membership and Outreach Director.
