Position/Title: GS-1035-07/09/11 Public Affairs Specialist
Location: Locations being considered at this time areDenver, Colorado; Boise, Idaho; and South Lake Tahoe, California. Other areas may be considered, depending upon qualified responses.
The Washington Office National Recreation, Heritage and Volunteer Resources Staff will soon advertise to fill a GS-1035-07/09/11 Public Affairs Specialist. This position serves as an assistant to the interagency outreach and communications team for the Recreation One Stop program and provides support for outreach and content efforts to maintain the Recreation.gov website and promote the Recreation.gov brand.
The duties of this position include:
- Researching, writing and editing trip-planning content for the Recreation.gov homepage. Coordinating these efforts among an interagency core content team using a web-based project management tool.
- Coordinating with interagency representatives to ensure posted information is accurate, well written and conveys the consistent voice and brand of Recreation.gov.
- Serving as editor for facility and RIDB page descriptions.
- Assisting with implementing communication and outreach strategies to include writing news releases, developing social media posts across multiple channels, selecting photos, coordinating with interagency partners, etc.
- Participating in conference calls, web-based collaborative sessions, on-site meetings and other venues for coordinating work among an interagency, virtual team.
- Responding to information requests from a variety of sources with timely, accurate and well-written responses.
