The City of Cannon Beach seeks qualified applicants for the Education Coordinator position for the Haystack Rock Awareness Program (HRAP). This part-time position runs February – June 2015 (with the potential to be extended to October) under the supervision of HRAP Coordinator.

The Haystack Rock Awareness Program (HRAP) is a stewardship and environmental educational program whose mission is to protect, through education, the intertidal and seabird ecology of the Marine Garden and Oregon Islands National Wildlife Refuge at Haystack Rock. !
Duties:
The Education Coordinator supports HRAP’s mission by: serving as a Rocky Shore Interpreter on the beach at Haystack Rock (30%); scheduling and coordinating field trip programs and other visiting groups (30-40%); and assisting HRAP Coordinator
off the beach with program events, maintenance and education development (30-40%). Beach schedule varies daily around low tide, therefore applicants must be willing to work early mornings, middays, evenings and weekends. Work schedules are coordinated one month in advance. HRAP’s team includes 1 full-time Coordinator, 1 part-time Volunteer Coordinator, 1 part-time Education Coordinator, 8-10 part-time seasonal Staff Interpreters and 80-100 community volunteers.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, valid driver’s license, good written and verbal communication skills, exercise of judgment, initiative, attention to detail and teamwork. Relevant experience preferred. !
Salary:
$13/hour. Position is part-time (averaging 25 hours/week, not to exceed 1,000 hours total). Busiest months are April-August. !
