Salary Range: $50,000 to $62,500 per year, dependent on qualifications

The Cowlitz Indian Tribe Natural Resources Department’s Habitat Program (CITNRD) develops and implements restoration and conservation projects throughout Southwest Washington and Northwest Oregon. Projects range from simple riparian planting projects to complicated, large scale floodplain restoration projects.

The Tribe will be implementing several habitat projects of varying scales while continuing to develop others. CITNRD is seeking a Restoration Ecologist who has the ability to manage projects with a high degree of complexity as well as develop similar projects in the future.

More specifically: The Restoration Ecologist identifies potential habitat restoration actions, pursues grant funding for project planning and implementation, secures permits and permissions, hires and manages design consultants, solicits bids and selects construction contractors, supervises construction and ensures permit compliance, supervises interns and scientific technicians, manages grant deliverables, and develops interim and final reports.

The Restoration Ecologist also provides technical and policy support to other members of the Cowlitz Indian Tribe’s Natural Resources Department, and coordinates with federal, state, local, non-profit and private partners and stakeholders.
