Graduate Research Assistantship in Spatial Analysis and Human Dimensions of Natural Hazards

We invite prospective M.S. and Ph.D. students to apply for a graduate research assistantship in Geography at the University of Southern Mississippi. The position is associated with ongoing research that focuses on spatial and temporal variations in human vulnerability and resilience on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

We are seeking highly motivated students with expertise in Geographic Information Science (spatial analysis, modeling, geo-visualization and internet mapping), human/cultural geography, and hazards. Students with documented experience in geospatial programming (C#, Java, ASP.net), ethnographic research, and survey administration are particularly encouraged to apply.

The position begins in August 2015 and includes a competitive monthly stipend, graduate tuition, and health benefits. Funding is available for two years, with the possibility of renewal for a third year.
