LOCATION Hydro Engineering Department – Beverly, WA
DESCRIPTION This position supports the Lands & Recreation Department of Grant PUD during the summer of 2015.  This position’s primary duties will assist with implementing a visitor use study through multifaceted data collections, including but not limited to, traffic counters, game cameras, in-person surveys, and passive observation surveys.  Secondary duties include assistance with routine park maintenance and upkeep.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS  Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must provide proof of and be admitted to an accredited college or university, with intent to continue enrollment as a full-time student in the next quarter or semester (excluding summer).
  • Must be at a minimum Junior standing.
  • Must provide proof of and maintain an overall cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or higher.
  • Must provide proof of and maintain full-time student status.
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License.

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to collect data and compile reports.
  • Must possess strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays (peak recreation season).
  • Must possess strong verbal communication skills and be able to work with the public in a positive and respectful manner.
  • Ability to periodically work from a boat.
  • Ability to conduct routine park maintenance such as campsite cleanup, and litter and garbage control.
  • Ability to work independently, be a self-starter and manage work load appropriately.

Physical/Mental Requirements:

  • Physically able to hike in rugged terrain, climb ladders, and cut tree limbs.
  • Must be mentally and physically fit for duty.
  • Exposure to adverse weather conditions; dust, dirt, pollen, extreme heat, and exposure to sun for extended periods of time.
  • Standing or sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Exposure to insects, snakes and other animals is expected.
