Do you enjoy a workplace with a strong passion for the environment? Are you experienced in laboratory settings in providing quality services that accurately determine the various contaminants found in air, water and soils? Many of Ecology‘s regulatory decisions are based on the data provided by laboratory services, with this position serving as an integral part of our laboratory services. The Ecology section at Manchester Environmental Laboratory (MEL) in Port Orchard, Washington currently employs 27 scientists and support staff. The lab offers a wide range of chemical and microbiological analyses, analytical method development, and other technical services ranging from project information management to logistical support for sampling events. Please Note: This is a project position that is funded until December 31, 2015, with a possibility for extension. This position will remain open until filled. Required Qualifications If selected for the position, a condition of employment is successfully passing the Environmental Protection Agency ePASS background check which will allow you access to the federal facility that houses the Ecology laboratory. Required Education An Associate Degree from an accredited lab tech program requiring course work in chemistry and biology. OR Two years of chemical or related laboratory experience including one year at the Lab Tech 1 or higher. NOTE: College education involving major study in a laboratory science may be substituted, year for year, for the required general experience.
