INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY
Summary
This internship will assist in project and administrative work in the Environmental department, with the focus on conducting spatial, chemical and statistical data analysis to support Port of Tacoma remediation projects, primarily concentrating on the Hylebos Waterway source control efforts. This internship may also assist in other projects in the Environmental department.
This internship is expected to start on or around June 15th and last up to three (3) months.
Hours will be Monday-Friday, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Total weekly hours worked will vary depending upon department needs and intern availability.
Qualifications
Applicants must be enrolled as a Junior or Senior in an accredited four-year college or university or enrolled in an accredited graduate school, pursing a degree in Environmental Studies or related field. Proficiency in ArcGIS 10.x highly desirable.
Applicants must be proficient in Microsoft Office software applications. Experience working in construction and around heavy equipment is highly desirable. The ability to move safety and efficiently on uneven terrain, work in adverse weather conditions and be comfortable around small boats and water is required.
Eligibility
All individuals offered an internship must provide acceptable proof of identity and authorization to work in the United States. Proof will be required prior to starting.
The successful intern must possess (or obtain within 30 days of employment) a valid driver’s license. Intern must be able to successfully complete a post-offer substance abuse test and background investigation.
