1. Forest Ecologist Intern – Redding, CA

 

American Conservation Experience, a nationwide non-profit Conservation Corp, in partnership with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Redding Field Office in California, is seeking one Forest Ecologist Intern to dedicate 16 weeks assisting the BLM Redding Field Office to complete the Baker Cypress Area of Critical Environmental Concern (ACEC) Stewardship Agreement and Management Plan.

 

Start Date: June 1, 2015

End Date: Sept 21, 2015 (Possibility of extension as funding exists)

This position aims to complete an on-going process for developing a Stewardship Agreement for the research and preservation of Baker cypress. Once the agreement is in place, the intern will work with the University/College who has attained the agreement to schedule site visits and data gathering for the development of the ACEC Draft management plan. The intern will then work with the University/College to write the management plan, per the goals of the BLM and those of the institute of higher learning. Throughout the process (during the 16 week internship), the intern will need to deliver presentations on the status of the project to their mentor, supervisor, and ID team on a routine basis.
