Professional Services Contract
Statewide Native Plant Stewardship Program Manager

The Washington Native Plant Society (WNPS) is requesting qualifications from interested persons to serve as Program Manager to establish a new Statewide Native Plant Stewardship Program in coordination with WNPS chapters. This is a paid contract position and applications will be accepted through June 22, 2015.
Project Description and Scope of Work
This is the initial phase of a multi-year program to establish the institutional arrangements and identify program options and opportunities among 11 active WNPS chapters. The Program Manager will be responsible to the Chair, WNPS Stewardship Steering Committee, established by the State Board of Directors. (Narrative to be added to each work element)
- Program Management
- Establish program management procedures with steering committee and Administrator
- Establish work location and work schedule
- Establish program evaluation and reporting procedures
- Work with steering committee to identify potential incentives and opportunities for chapters and partners to local stewardship programs. Program Implementation and Information Exchange
- Establish WNPS email, web and social media options for the statewide stewardship program
- Determine the options and feasibility for electronic training methods
- Set up access to available stewardship information to chapters and public
- Program Requirements
- Meet with individual chapters, as appropriate, to outline program and identify local requirements and needs
- Prepare requirements report on similarities and differences among chapter’s stewardship needs.
- Recommend core program for Native Plant Steward candidates with individual and group training options
- Develop recommendations for cost (in-kind and cash) sharing individual chapter programs
- Work with chapters to identify potential partners and project opportunities
- Identify up to 3 chapter pilot programs for implementation in 2016
Proposals

- Letter of interest, providing specific details about your training, experience, knowledge and abilities related to the scope of work.

Compensation
The period of this contract will be approximately from July 6 through December 31, 2015 and may be extended through December 31, 2017. The initial contract for the remainder of FY2015 will be between $12,500 and $15,000 for personal services depending on experience; reimbursement for travel and other program expenses also will be provided.
Criteria
Top candidates must be articulate, reliable, enjoy working with people and able to work independently with minimum supervision. Highly desired are education in and/or experience with Washington native plants and ecology, botany and plant identification, stewardship and restoration, managing conferences or lecture series, teaching adults, and familiarity with local community restoration and education projects. Experience using PC-based software including Word, Access and Excel also is desired. Candidates will need to have flexible schedules, be self-motivated, and capable of efficiently organizing time and priorities. Candidates should have their own vehicle or regular access to a vehicle for travel statewide.
